I started doing yoga when I was around 14 weeks pregnant with my son, I was already familiar and knew I enjoyed yoga having done it previously, but I’d definitely recommend it to any pregnant women out there. Read more
Many pets can feel pretty fed up when a new baby arrives. For years they have been centre of attention and now suddenly they have a new, strange smelling, noisy inmate to content with and unlike us, they haven’t had nine months to get used to the idea! My son is 11 months now and cat obsessed, on sight of our lovely furry 4 legged friends he shrieks and hi-speed crawls over to terrorise them! The cats pretty much hate my him I think, one cat – the tabby female, pretty much ignores his existence and hides whenever he is around. At bed time she’ll wait until it’s all gone quiet and then creep upstairs and go to sleep next to him, safe in the knowledge he doesn’t move when he’s asleep. The other cat, a ginger Tom, is perhaps a bit more daft, sometimes he’ll just ask for trouble by rolling around in front of little rug-rat, and twice now he’s given him a little, polite non clawed tap on the head trying to set boundaries. This is a rather indulgent post, I hope mothers out there will find it as something they can relate to, and prospective mothers may find it reassuring! As my son has just turned 11 months and we’re preparing for his very first birthday, I’m feeling very reflective about the past year and how much me and my husbands lives have changed.
When you’re pregnant fear mongers like to remind you that you’ll never have a proper nights sleep again; or a lie in, or a night out! Make the most of it they say because everything is going to change. And they’re right. Everything has changed. The cliches are true – time does go past so fast, you can’t prepare for how much a child will change you. But what no-one mentions is that actually you won’t mind! Getting up at 6am on holiday is fine, sure I’m tired but I get to watch my son playing in his pjs exploring the new environment, I enjoy and appreciate every moment with my son. Nights outs are a thing of the past, don’t get me wrong I definitely miss going to the cinema whenever I want to see the new release, but given the choice i’d much prefer sleepy cuddles and watching my little creation sleep so soundly than a night out getting drunk in a crowded bar. Entertainment isn’t watching TV, entertainment is watching my boy play with his toys, the concentration on his face as he discovers how they work and what he can achieve. Read more

My baby is a biter, he has just turned 11 months and he comes at me like a zombie, he thinks it’s hilarious, particularly when I Yelp in pain or hold his head back (gently and playfully course). Now he has 6 razor sharp teeth and like a ferret aims to make them meet with a flesh sandwich it blumming hurts! His favourite areas are my neck, arms, tummy (suck your belly in my husband says, come on, not with this post baby belly pouch!) but the worst, and most disgusting has to be my toes!
Why does he bite me I often wondered? To be mean? Naughty?
Well, after some research it seems there are many reasons… Read more
